**Role review**:
With a long term partnership in Lisbon and growing a brand new Web Summit in Latin America, Web Summit Rio, we are looking for an ambitious communications specialist to expand and improve our presence locally.

This person will play a key role in engaging and shaping our presence in the Portuguese and Brazilian markets. They will be in charge of designing and executing campaigns across the Portuguese and Brazilian market while working closely with several internal teams including startups, partnerships, marketing, and content to promote the exciting Web Summit stories. In addition, you will work with the Portugal and Brazil General Manager to support and liaise with federal and local governments while also supporting the broader communications team in crisis and issues management.

**What you’ll achieve at Web Summit**:

- You’ll help to craft creative communication strategies related to the Portuguese and Brazilian market.
- You’ll develop campaigns and compelling narratives that promote Web Summit’s key events and initiatives across the year, delivering a series of high-quality, high-touch communications moments in support of business objectives.
- You’ll identify, build and nurture key relationships with journalists from a variety of markets around the world.
- You’ll do research to support and guide event storyboarding, messaging and interview briefs.
- You’ll monitor, assess and report metrics and impact from PR campaigns.
- You’ll support government relations for Web Summit, dealing with both the federal government and municipalities in Portugal and Brazil.
- You’ll work on community management within the Portuguese startup, student and developer communities

**Who you are**:

- A creative, confident, articulate individual who is a clear communicator and has excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- An adaptable and flexible person who can work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
- A strategic thinker with a proven track record of planning, executing and evaluating activity on a long-term basis.
- An excellent team player, with the ability to work on your own.
- Someone with a strong interest in technology and current affairs, always keeping up to date on news.
- A person who is passionate about media and brand promotion.
- You’re experienced in or have understanding of the political landscape, policies, elections and laws of Portugal.

**Skills and abilities we like**:

- 5+ years of experience in PR, communications or journalism.
- Fluent in Portuguese and English
- Deep knowledge of the public space in Portugal including strong relations in media.
- Excellent writing, editing and researching skills, and a love of writing and gathering stories.
- Excellent communication abilities (oral and written).
- Strong knowledge of communications and PR strategies
- Experience managing and leading stakeholder projects.
- A good understanding of social media and tech trends.
