**What’s the role about?**
The **Senior Tax Specialist **will report directly to the Tax Manager.
The Senior Tax Specialist is responsible for preparing tax returns and workpapers, organising tax payments and tax accounts reconciliations, providing support and responses to Tax Authorities queries, tax audits, system enhancements, as well as providing Tax guidance to the business and supporting projects.
**What you'll do?**
The **Senior Tax Specialist **is required to execute the following responsibilities:
- Collection, preparation and analysis of data, legal documents and other relevant information required for local tax filings/tax audits and any other statutory requirements
- Upload/submit the final tax return and support to tax compliance tracking system
- Provide/prepare documents supporting the transactional data provide audit support and responses as required
- Prepare tax reconciliations, including monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
- Advise on ERP system updates according to the strategies and policies in place, as well as in line with indirect tax changes globally
- Advise on the implementation of VAT settings for new countries in ERP systems and other VAT relevant systems
- Perform the maintenance of the tax codes globally analyse the VAT and systems implications of operations and/or projects and decide on the correct VAT treatment
- Provide indirect tax and systems trainings to other internal stakeholders
- Improve existing and establishing new working processes within systems to ensure efficiency and excellence
- If applicable, the main responsibilities during Transition period are:
- Perform knowledge transfer through “train, observe, support & perform” phases, representing Porto SSC with local Entity team
- Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process flows
- Support integration of newly transitioned processes into SSC; during training, hyper care and beyond
- Train new SSC team members in processes
- Contribute to continuous process improvements
- Escalate issues and feedback from local Entities
**What are we looking for?**
- Degree in Tax, accounting, management or equivalent
- At least 4 years of relevant Tax experience, ideally working with Indirect Taxes, within a complex and large volume environment
- Advanced knowledge of European VAT and intrastat requirements
- Good communication skills and team player
- Be trustworthy and self-motivated
- Strong organisation skills and time management
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of ERP systems, processes and workflow technology
