Expense and GL Accountant

HBK - Hottinger, Brüel & Kjær, Porto (Maia), Portugal

The position

HBK is currently seeking a multi-talented, highly motivated expense and general ledger accountant with strong accounting experience. This position provides the perfect opportunity for an upbeat and personable professional with solid experience and curiosity to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Primary responsibilities

You will report directly to the Head of Southern Europe Cluster, Corporate Finance and will perform a variety of accounting duties and general reporting. You should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have an aptitude for understanding how to analyze and maintain accurate financial information.

Your daily work includes:
- Maintaining general ledger, preparing journal entries and performing bank reconciliations.- Reviewing travel expenditures and making ensure all submissions are in line with company policy for all countries in the Southern Europe cluster (France, Italy, Spain & Portugal).- Posting of vendor invoices and manage PO’s for vendors.- Issue invoices for customers and follow up on collection of overdue amounts.- Preparing month-end close activities (incl. but not limited to): Monthly GL account reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts, preparation and posting of various adjustments and reclassification entries, prepare, analyze and communicate financial information that contributes to the reporting and/or control function, reporting in Elevate.- Different kinds of reporting responsibilities to take part in month end processes etc.- Preparing and assisting with annual close activities and preparation of annual financial statements.- Supporting Internal and External auditors.- Supporting with standardization, automation and simplification of financial processes.- Assisting with ERP related projects, ad-hoc projects and other accounting functions as needed.

Professional qualifications

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Audit, Finance or related field. Further you have min. 5 years of documented experience in an international organization.

It would be a benefit for the incumbent to have knowledge of vat, tax and payroll activities, but this is not a requirement.

Personal skills- Have strong Microsoft Office abilities, databases and accounting software solutions. You are able to adapt to new IT systems with ease (SAP 4 Hanna/SAP experience).- High attention to detail.-
