We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our growing voice engineering team. In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our organisation as one of the key engineering leaders in Portugal. You'll be responsible for hiring a top-notch engineering team that owns critical services and features for Five9.
**Responsibilities**:
- Build and lead the Portugal voice engineering team for Five9.
- Work with the rest of the global team to deliver a regular cadence of features.
- Plan work, estimate timelines, and establish a top.
- Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes. Incubate them & see them adopted by other teams around the world.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other groups, including product management, operations, and other engineering teams.
- Distill complex topics and explain them clearly to varied audiences.
**Requirements**:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar fields.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit & develop talented engineers, earning their respect.
- 3+ years experience managing 4+ people.
- A track record of delivering scalable, high-quality products in a continuous delivery model.
- Knowledge of common software development best practices & tools, including CI/CD and Agile.
- 4+ years hands-on experience developing Java/Kotlin microservices.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Domain expertise in real-time communications (e.g., SIP, RTP, WebRTC), especially call control.
- Experience with distributed services and distributed state machines.
- Public cloud platform experience (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure).
