Chief Technology Officer

**Chief Technology Officer, Portugal**

We are looking for a **Chief Technology Officer** with a technology visionary and senior management expertise in leading the ideation and development of innovative and differentiating technical and engineering solutions that support the business strategy. The CTO will collaborate with all operation line managers and business development & strategy leaders to drive solutions into priority captures, proposals, and major programs.

Deep Software experience required. Technologies: PHP (Laravel framework), React or Angular, JavaScript, AWS,

MySQL, Postgres, C++ (Qt), Redis. Having business knowledge in banking/capital markets software is not mandatory, although it will be a plus point.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced person to set strategy and make executive technology decisions on behalf of the organization including managing a technology budget and making the necessary investments to align the organization with its vision for its technological needs. Working directly with the CEO and Head of Product management, you will act as both a technology and business expert, making decisions impacting current and future operations. As the CTO, you will oversee all technology and technological resources, establish the technology

strategies, and growth plans. You will also lead system and quality assurance processes to ensure the protection of utilities’ assets while maintaining and evolving technological needs.

English is mandatory. Other languages like French or German create an advantage. This role requires willingness to relocate or commute to the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Portugal. This is a full-time, long-term position. Initial integration and product training will be provided. Hybrid work environment with partial possibility to work from home possible.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

1.Engineering Leadership
- Develop a global innovation strategy that leverages external technical partnerships. Identify, negotiate, and develop strategic technical partnerships to support business priorities and objectives. NowCM uses agile dev techniques, based on scrum/short iteration with prod management/business analysts’ team.
- CTO needs to realize we are a small integrated team and not a large waterfall shop and work accordingly.
- Provide technical leadership at the enterprise level and serve an integral role in operations and business development.
- Work closely with product owners and business analysts to create new product specs: conducting research on the requirements, analysing existing data structures and product architecture, making important technical decisions that specify how to improve existing products
- Work together with product management on company’s product release roadmap
- Coordinate one or more development teams towards project delivery to ensure dependencies resolution and maximize delivery performance
- Review teams’ deliverables with written, technical, and actionable feedback to improve the quality of their work and balance cost
- Initiate and drive architecture decisions and development tasks in close collaboration with stakeholders
- Coordinate team dynamics to achieve the best possible outcome for the project with the given team members; ensure everybody can contribute with their best strengths and team members compensate for each other's weaknesses.
- Assign tasks needed to design and implement software solution to ensure quality and performance of implementation alongside with ability to learn for the team members or team
- Ensure process compliance in the assigned scope and participate in technical discussions/reviews to guarantee quality of decisions made.
- Conduct evaluation of the program code quality, formalization and algorithmizing of the given tasks in accordance with the technical specification or other regulations used in the company.
- Make decisions about deployment and software delivery (e.g., CD/CI, branching/merging) approach.
- Make decisions about changes to the program code, modify code if necessary.
- Make active decisions to solve technical issues and make key technical decisions, conduct technological research when needed
- Be successful in owning business results. Facilitate mentorship or be a mentor for IT department to ensure efficiency and development

2. Participating in planning of software implementation
- Analyse and agree software architecture with stakeholders to ensure the architecture will fulfil the business need.
- Lead the development and/or review/confirm/improve (if such exist) key inputs to Project Plan as scope of work, dependencies, critical path, team composition.
- Set right priorities and the scope of work for IT department to meet product requirements and project constraints (duration, efforts)
- Closely partner with operation management to suggest options for optimization in terms of technical scope, product scope to meet the cost or time constraints.
- Actively participate
