Nutrition from Water (NXW) is pioneering a new category of water-derived proteins and affordable micronutrition from microalgae from Portugal. We are a fast-growing biotechnology company scaling Marine Whey and microalgae-based ingredients to power the next generation of global health, performance, and planetary-positive nutrition. Role Overview

We are seeking a high-initiative Business Development & Trade Marketing Executive to lead NXW's global industry engagement across 2026–2027. You will be responsible for representing NXW at key B2B ingredients, biotech, and nutrition industry events, building strategic relationships, and activating trade marketing programs that accelerate commercial growth.

This role is ideal for someone with a technical marketing, food science, biotechnology, or nutrition background who also thrives in commercial settings. You will be the bridge between NXW's scientific story and our global partners — bringing clarity, credibility, and energy to every interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Industry Engagement & Events

  • Lead NXW's presence at global B2B and ingredients events (Vitafoods, SupplySide, Fi Europe, Bioeconomy forums, etc.).
  • Develop annual event strategies and roadmaps that align with NXW's commercial goals.
  • Coordinate trade booths, sampling, collateral, and pre-event outreach to maximise ROI.
  • Serve as a confident scientific and commercial spokesperson for NXW.

Business Development & Partnerships

  • Identify, qualify, and nurture new commercial opportunities with ingredient buyers, distributors, formulators, and strategic partners.
  • Support the sales pipeline with technical insights, product demonstrations, and targeted follow-ups.
  • Work closely with Commercial, R&D, and Marketing to deliver strong partner experiences.

Trade Marketing & Brand Activation

  • Develop technical sell-in materials, B2B presentations, and category narratives for Marine Whey and microalgae-based nutrition.
  • Build case studies, application notes, and product concepts with NXW R&D.
  • Implement digital and in-person trade marketing programs that drive awareness and demand among developers and buyers.

Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Own timelines, logistics, and commercial readiness for all global engagements.
  • Track KPIs, event ROI, and partner feedback to continuously improve our strategy.
  • Operate as a self-starter with autonomy while collaborating tightly with global teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in business development, trade marketing, technical sales, or ingredient commercialisation.
  • Master's degree in Food Science, Biotechnology, Nutrition, Biochemistry, or a closely related field (strong preference).
  • Strong technical literacy with an ability to translate complex science into compelling commercial narratives.
  • Demonstrated experience representing a company at industry events or in customer-facing technical roles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable travelling up to 50% of the time, including internationally.
  • Based in
    Lisbon/Faro or willing to relocate.

Preferred Experience

  • B2B food ingredients, biotech, specialty nutrition, sports nutrition, or functional foods.
  • Exposure to microalgae, fermentation, proteins, or novel food technologies.
  • Experience working in fast-moving, early-stage, or scale-up environments.
