Research Opportunities

Industrial Robotics

Work description

  • Analyze, adapt, and migrate existing ROS1 packages to ROS2;
  • Support lab members in integrating and testing converted packages;
  • Participate in follow-up meetings and technical discussions;
  • Understand and interact with robotic concepts and hardware.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence.

Minimum profile required

  • Proven knowledge of containerization tools such as "Container", "Podman", and "Distrobox";
  • Ability to read and interpret code in C++ and Python;
  • Availability for meetings and collaborative work;
  • Good understanding of concepts in robotics, control, and sensing;
  • Proven prior experience in robotics;
  • Proven knowledge of ROS1 and ROS2;
  • Experience in C++ and Python programming.

Preference factors

  • Prior experience in robotics;
  • Scientific publications in the field of robotics;
  • Experience in R&D projects;
  • Master's student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence.

Maintenance stipend:
€ 651.12, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.

INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".

The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
