We are looking for a
Founding Engineer
to build Clara from day one.
This is a senior, hands-on role with full ownership across the product. In the first year, you will effectively be responsible for turning Clara from an idea into a working system used by real customers.
You will work directly with the founder and shape both what gets built and how it is built.
What you will work on
You will design and build the core product end to end.
You will create frontend experiences that prioritise clarity and simplicity.
You will build backend systems that support long-running, stateful mortgage cases.
You will define data models and business logic for complex financial workflows.
You will integrate external platforms and APIs.
You will build internal tools used by advisors and operations.
You will make the early technical decisions that set the foundation for scale.
What we are looking for
You are comfortable owning both frontend and backend work.
You have built and shipped full products, not just isolated components.
You think in systems but care deeply about product quality and user experience.
You are pragmatic and able to make sound technical decisions independently.
You are comfortable operating with high ownership and limited structure.
You want to build something meaningful rather than optimise for short-term optics.
This is not a big-company role.
It is early, founder-led, and demanding.
It comes with real autonomy and real responsibility.
