AI/ML Engineer (LLMs/AWS) - Hybrid Lisbon

About Us:

HumanIT is looking for an experienced AI/ML Engineer to join an innovative fintech company in Lisbon. This company is transforming the financial industry with a cutting-edge, fully customizable platform designed to simplify complex financial products.

The Role:

As an AI/ML Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and deploying AI-driven solutions, working closely with the Software Development Manager. You will integrate advanced AI/ML capabilities, including Generative AI (GenAI), Agents, Machine Learning Models, Prompting Techniques, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Vector Databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) into the platform. The ideal candidate should have a solid technical background and a passion for experimenting, innovating, and delivering impactful AI solutions. Experience with AWS infrastructure, including AWS SageMaker and Bedrock, is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions for the next generation of financial technology.

  • Implement GenAI, agent-based systems, and ML models to enhance platform capabilities.

  • Architect data models and pipelines to support AI/ML initiatives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI functionalities into the platform.

  • Develop scalable ML pipelines and data workflows.

  • Optimize AI models on cloud platforms, with a preference for AWS experience.

  • Work on specialized projects, such as building an Agentic Framework for financial advisors and integrating OCR with vector databases.

  • Utilize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques to improve data retrieval and decision-making.

  • Advocate for MLOps best practices to streamline deployment and monitoring of AI solutions.

  • Provide technical mentorship and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI/ML research and tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering.

  • Proven experience developing and deploying commercial AI/ML solutions.

  • Strong expertise in Generative AI, agent-based systems, ML models, and prompting techniques.

  • Practical experience with OCR, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).

  • Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.

  • Experience in fintech, particularly in structured products or annuities.

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Knowledge of Langchain, Langgraph, and Langsmith is a plus.

Location & Work Model:

  • Lisbon, Portugal

  • Hybrid work model (3 days in the office per week)
