BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Lean/ Industrial Engineer Supervisor at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement, follow the manufacturing system, based on customer specifications and volume.
  • Lead the team of industrial engineering;
  • Lead the task team in manufacturing system changes (product changes, process changes, business transfers, area layout changes, customer demand increases / decreases).
  • Lead Continuous Improvement and make recommendations to improve product manufacturability / labor efficiency / product quality in accordance with product design and customer specifications. Follow up implementation processes.
  • Define workplace organization (ensuring safe and ergonomic production area; define material presentation, make time & method study, define equipment placement). Design/Update production area layout
  • Ensuring equipment / board design in accordance with ergonomic, health & safety and customer specifications
  • Analyze potential risks and design error proofing preventive systems (Lead PFMEA process)
  • Lead & Plan manufacturing area implementation and coordinate Engineering team to ensure the process released is done on time for SOP.
  • Lead the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S’s, VSM, MTM)
  • Provide internal training to process, maintenance and production teams.
  • Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service.

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in industrial engineering, electromechanics or mechanical engineer
  • More than 8 years’ experience in similar function in automotive industry (is a must)
  • Experience with new factory launch preferred
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards.
  • Advanced Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles and tools
  • Design tools (Solid Works, ProE, or AutoCad)
  • Problem solving tools (5Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 8D)
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Documentation and organization skills.
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Portuguese
