Role Overview:

As the part-time Chief Legal Officer (CLO), you will provide strategic legal guidance and support to our company, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations in the digital education space. You will oversee all legal matters and play a key role in shaping our legal strategy.

Responsibilities:

Legal Strategy:

Develop and implement legal strategies to support the company's goals and objectives. Advise senior management on legal risks and opportunities, providing guidance on legal matters affecting the business.

Contract Management:

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, clients, and partners. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies in all contractual relationships.

Regulatory Compliance:

Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company's operations. Develop compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to legal requirements.

Intellectual Property Protection:

Safeguard the company's intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Manage trademark and patent filings, and enforce intellectual property rights when necessary.

Risk Management:

Identify legal risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. Provide guidance on risk management practices and procedures across the organization.

Legal Documentation:

Prepare and review legal documents, including memos, policies, and procedures. Ensure accuracy and consistency in all legal documentation produced by the company.

Requirements:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in Portugal; additional bar admissions in other jurisdictions preferred. years of experience practicing law, with a focus on [relevant area of law]. Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also collaborating effectively with team members in a remote environment.
