The Role


This role is responsible for driving all aspects of HR delivery across all business areas in Portugal, with a current colleague population of 300+, expected to grow to circa 580 by 2024, due to the newly expanded Lisbon Regional Delivery Hub.

You will support the Portugal Country Leadership team and Business leaders, ensuring the alignment of HR activities and priorities to the HR Global operating model.

You will be accustomed to working with senior stakeholders, partnering with Business Leaders, and building a network across the broader HR organisation.

This role will report into the HR Lead for Iberia.

Team Management:

  • Build a strong HR function across Portugal, bring the team together to establish and embed HR solutions, ways of working, policies and processes while continuously improving service levels.
  • You will be responsible for the country HR Advisory team 1 direct reports, you will also engage with HR Centres of Expertise (Talent & Development Programs and Total Rewards Advisory, Compensation and Benefits)

Integration & Change Management:

  • Manage and oversee the HR support required to setup the new Lisbon Regional Delivery Hub (RDH).
  • Provide guidance on organisational design and relevant HR change management matters, ensuring the smooth onboarding and training support for colleagues joining the RDH.
  • Establish and embed HR solutions and ways of working while continuously improving service levels.

HR Partnering

  • HR partner to the Portugal Country Leadership team.
  • Overall accountability for management of HR matters relating to Portugal, including team management.
  • Train managers on a wide range of HR related topics including performance management, the rollout of new HR programs and policies, etc.
  • Work closely with the business to deliver on the annual performance and compensation process.

Integrated HR Service Delivery

  • Identify and implement opportunities for global standardisation (e.g. HR process, service delivery) while understanding and allowing for differences where appropriate.
  • Partner with Country Business Leaders to understand the key business issues in the country, providing HR analytics and insight, ensuring HR advice and practices support and drive business initiatives and talent agenda.
  • Partner with Centres of Expertise (CoE) leads to ensure global programs are delivered effectively in the region
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures
  • Oversee HR compliance, regulatory requirements, and controls

Employee Relations

  • Responsible for the proactive management of employee relations, legal compliance and ensuring HR policies meet these requirements.
  • Provide case management advice on key areas such as disciplinary, performance management, redundancy, longterm sickness and other ER issues. Provide guidance to colleagues and to people manager to ensure successful outcomes that balance risk and business cost.
  • Work with managers to provide effective coaching on managing performance and disciplinary issues, ensuring actions meet company and legislative requirements.
  • Negotiate exit agreements, taking legal advice on more complex cases.
  • Ensure adherence to unique jurisdictional requirements and monitor issues for continuous improvement of employment practices and/or processes.

Total Rewards:

  • Overall responsibility for the administration of benefits, including relationships with providers and renewals, in line with local requirements and in alignment with the strategy set by Benefits CoE.
  • Responsibility for managing and administering the annual Flexible Benefits program
  • Partner with the Compensation and Benefits teams to provide data and advice relating to competitiveness of Reward offering salary range development, market benchmarking, etc.

Performance and Talent Development:

  • Implement talent programmes, providing guidance and counsel to local leaders. This includes matters related to talent development, organisational change, employee engagement.
  • Work with leaders to champion the performance review process and to reinforce the objectives and expected outcomes of the process
  • Support country based I&D initiatives e.g. Inclusion & Diversity Council and inclusion network activities; ensuring businesses are owning these initiatives for their colleagues. Suppo
