Performs diverse assigned clearance engineering responsibilities in the Shared Service Centre (SSC) in Porto, Portugal to ensure SSC base business support, to project manage the transition of local activities to central operations in the European SSC and to ensure proper support of regulatory European Union Customs Code (UCC) end-to-end process activities as well as the DRIVE GCSS and SSC 2.0 initiatives. Identifies the need for and undertakes engineering initiatives to support central and local operational goals. Provides technical expertise and ongoing support to cross-functional and divisional project teams as required.

Acts as a technical expert on complex and specialist subject(s). Supports management with the analysis, interpretation and application of complex information, contributing to the achievement of divisional and corporate goals. Supports or leads projects by applying area of expertise.

POSITION

  • As part of a team responsible for the development and planning of strategic and tactical analysis in sort and customs clearance operations, this excellent communicator and strongly analytical individual will be supporting the analysis, development and implementation of FedEx business processes in the newly created Shared Services Centre including plans and programs and systems for achieving maximum synergy with customs clearance operations.

  • Position aimed at improving working methods, organization of the workstations and the reliability of the IT systems and optimizes the production costs in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the customs operations in conjunction with the local clearance operations.

  • Oversee information tools in support of service and customer experience improvement opportunities, providing cost reductions, limiting financial and regulatory risks and supporting financial revenue growth.

  • Position is contributing to national, regional and global initiatives.

  • Coordinating multifunctional teams, you will oversee the development of operating scenarios and procedures, you will be responsible for Standard Operating Plans, the development of Business Cases for necessary approval and support for the implementation of projects and initiatives.

  • You will give and receive the necessary support to and from senior professionals in the local team or elsewhere.

PROFILE - COMPETENCIES

  • Degree or professional qualification in industrial engineering or quantitative discipline.

  • Experience of developing solutions to operational business challenges.

  • Experience of developing and implementing measurement systems, operational processes and procedures.

  • Experience of participating in project teams with a good understanding of project management principles and tools.

  • Good understanding of the structure and inter-dependencies of a complex and large organization.

  • Experience of utilizing relevant software tools (e.g., Excel/Word) to translate business needs into computerized simulations.

  • Able to translate technical information and model outputs into user-friendly lay language and format.

  • Able to perform audits of processes and procedures.

  • Basic understanding of operational related IT systems and their capabilities.

  • Good understanding of the business environment and how strategy is translated into business-focused solutions.

  • Experience of defining and developing the engineering elements of a business plan for a specific location.

  • Able to work effectively with different cultures and nationalities.

  • Good written and verbal communications.

  • Experience of presenting scenarios to management.

  • Basic influencing and persuasion skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Experience of utilizing analytical concepts and tools.

  • Good financial awareness.

  • Excellent standard of numeracy.

  • Good judgment and reasoning ability.

  • Creative thinker with the ability to recognize improvement opportunities.

  • Good command of local language and English.

  • Experience in continuous improvement, model design and data mining is preferred.

  • Experience in managing complex projects using project management tools is preferred.

  • Experience in the customs field is preferred.

  • Limited travel in Europe needed.
