**System Administrator for the Technical Capability and Support Section

**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
**Essential Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience in:
ü Microsoft computer network architecture and maintenance

ü creating technical documentation

ü network and system security

ü computer scripting
- Experience working with virtualization technologies including VMWare

**Desirable Qualifications/Experience**:

- Knowledge and experience of/with:
ü working with NCI Agency

ü working with the NCI Academy

ü agile implementation methodology

**DUTIES/ROLE**:

- Regularly update and patch all software systems to ensure they are secure and up to date

ü Work with TCS engineers to ensure that all systems are patched to the latest approved versions. Ensuring the stability and integrity of the systems
- Implement strong security protocols such as multi‐factor authentication, access control and data encryption to protect sensitive data

ü Work with TCS engineers to ensure that system data is secure from unauthorized access by implementing appropriate security processes and technologies
- Monitor the network for performance issues and suspicious activity and promptly respond to security threats

- Regularly backup critical data and test the restore process

ü Ensure that appropriate backup procedures are in place and are implemented and tested for their effectively and reliability
- Develop and maintain documentation and procedures for IT processes and systems to ensure consistency and efficiency

ü The IT systems in the Academy continue to evolve; therefore, documentation should be continually updated
- Enhance and support the ALE virtualization platform

ü Virtualization is used within the Academy to supply users’ virtual machines of NATO systems. The demand for these services continues to expand so we need to find efficiencies to enable the service to scale effectively
- Automate repetitive tasks and implement monitoring tools to reduce workload and improve efficiency

ü TCS has limited resources so it is essential to automate repetitive tasks to free up time to work on other projects and services
- Proactively identify and resolve issues before they become a problem

ü All systems and services should be monitored for problems so that they can be resolved before they impact operations
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the IT infrastructure to ensure it meets the Academy’s’ needs and goals

ü All systems and services should be continually analyzed to look for ways they can be optimized to be more effective and efficient
- Provide User Support
