Senior Business Controller

**Context**:
- At Sparkfood, we are implementing a buy & build investment strategy through majority deals (or minority with path to majority), targeting small to mid-cap companies.
- We strive to empower and enable businesses, through a diverse set of skills and expertise, partnering with like-minded entrepreneurs and innovators, collaborating and investing in the most impactful companies, while helping them to scale and grow.
- Our main goal is to create long-term value through capital and talent, building on three complementary operational platforms:
- Alternative food products - we aim to provide consumers with better solutions to nourish themselves, without compromising on taste, price or available resources for future generations.
- Ventures - we target scale ups from Seed to Series B round with a viable proof of concept of sustainable and healthier food solutions, supporting the food transition and bringing disruptive ideas that will fuel innovation for our platforms.
As a result of the growth and diversification of **Sparkfood's** business, we are looking for a Senior Business Controller, who will report directly to the CFO.
**Key responsibilities**:
- ** Financial Planning and Analysis**: financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities. Analyse and systematise information from different sources, identifying trends, and providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making;
- **Performance Monitoring**: monitor KPIs and financial metrics to assess the overall financial health and performance of our different businesses. Understand variances against budgets and targets, identify areas of improvement or concern, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement corrective actions. Follow the strategy and financial plans execution;
- **Financial Reporting**: prepare monthly reporting to Sparkfood ExCom and Board. Prepare support information report for Sonae centralized planning and control team;
- **Risk Management**: support financial risk assessment and development of mitigation strategies;
- **Business Partnering**: collaborate with various stakeholders, including Sparkfood senior management and Sonae Holding teams. Act as a trusted advisor to Sparkfood CFO and help Sparkfood businesses with different analysis and support to decision making;
- **Process Improvement**: contribute to continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. May be involved in implementing new financial tools, technologies, or methodologies to streamline operations.
**Mais requirements**:
- Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Management or similar;
- Minimum 5 years of experience within Planning and Control, Financial and/or Management Control, Corporate Finance, Management Consulting or Audit functions (past experience as business controller functions will be valued);
- Strong knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel (advanced level) and PowerPoint;
- Fluency in English (mandatory); knowledge of other languages will be valued (including, but not only German, French, Italian, and Spanish).
- Hands-on and action-driven, ready to work on a lean organization;
- Great sense of responsibility and ownership (autonomy is strongly encouraged in our team);
- Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and proactivity;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ease of communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
