**Job Purpose**
Through in-field scientific engagement with healthcare providers and external experts, the Medical Advisor hybrid role fosters a more educated healthcare environment by:
1. Communicating their deep knowledge of GSK data in the context of overall patient care to
ensure evidence-based understanding of the science behind GSK medicines and vaccines
2. Gathering valuable insights on GSK products and services, and on medical and scientific
information to better understand patient needs and evidence gaps;
3. Responsible for the medical strategy trough medical projects including disease awareness, medical education, advisory boards and KOLs and physicians Societies engagement plan.
4. Develop and execute effective medical plans and integrated evidence plans by leading assessment of unmet medical needs and scientific strategy by using medical insights from medical projects and, gained by MSLs MI and commercial partners.
5. Collaborate closely with marketing and sales force to provide input into medical strategic direction.
6. Contribute on medical governance and compliance oversight for respiratory focused Medical and development activities.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the development of medical strategy to optimize scientific engagement with external experts.
- Ensure relevant consolidated medical insights are effectively and appropriately shared across the business and strongly represent the medical voice of the external expert and the patient.
- Effectively integrate the MSL team within Medical Affairs and work collaboratively with all cross-functional business partners to ensure aligned implementation of MSL activities to strategic business plans and work closely with marketing and sales force to ensure optimal alignment and ways of working between Sales and medical team.
- Act as a coach for an agreed number of MSLs, working with them in the field with external experts to support their capability development and act as a mentor to provide on the ground support and advice on topics such as: GSK ways of working, code of practice, GSK processes, MSL resources, decision-making, etc.
- Provide scientific education training for colleagues such as the Medical Representatives by being the local scientific expert for a medicine / vaccine or group of medicines / vaccines in a therapy area. Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific / therapeutic area and in competitor medicines and vaccines.
- Attend scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in a therapy area and to confidently debate and discuss the science with external experts as presented at the meeting.
- Ensure compliance of Medical projects with GSK standards and policies, and with local codes of practice, guidelines and laws by driving a “can do” culture.
**Basic Requirements**
- Higher degree in life sciences: PhD, MSc or equivalent AND/OR other professional healthcare provision qualification with experience (e.g. nurse practitioner, physician, surgeon, physiotherapist or pharmacist).
- Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a role successfully engaging in scientific exchange with external experts in vaccines area.
- Proven track record as an MSL with consistent delivery of core objectives.
- High scientific expertise with established long-term and ability to translates complex science into simple messages.
- Effective networking and collaboration skills to achieve business results.
- Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical governance environment.
**Preferred Requirements**
- Experience working in the required therapeutic area is preferred - vaccines. Strong negotiation and strategic influencing skills.
- An understanding clinical development, and statistical design and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong skills in projects management.
