Mercatus Energy is searching for an analyst/trainee to join our team in Portugal. This is a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the world of global energy trading and risk management at a highly regarded firm.

As an analyst/trainee, you will:

- Acquire significant knowledge across multiple energy commodity markets, both traditional and renewable, including - crude oil, electricity, emissions/environmental, natural gas, natural gas liquids and refined products - markets while working closely with our global team
- Work closely with senior members of our team and clients
- Have a high level of responsibility and be empowered to make important contributions

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Ability and willingness to continuously learn and adapt in a brisk paced environment
- Advanced aptitude for problem solving and multitasking
- Detail oriented, organized, diligent
- Fluent English communication - verbal, written and listening - skills
- Ability to work with a team and individually to create solutions to complex analytical challenges and communicate (in writing and verbally) with a sophisticated, global institutional client base
- Degree in economics, finance, mathematics, probability, statistics, science or a related field or otherwise proven quantitative and analytical excellence
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python is plus but not required;
