The Team

The Accounts Payable team based in Portugal services 5 business units across the international Hiscox group and is responsible for the paying of supplier invoices and employee expenses accurately and on time.

**Responsibilities**:
- Manage invoices in the procurement system, Marketplace, including monitoring the purchase order & invoice approvals, and ensuring receipts are created in a timely manner- Process non-purchase order invoices & creating accounting journals to allocate costs around the business- Check supplier invoices/credit notes ensuring correct VAT treatment- Review employee expense reports for adherence to policy- Handle Direct Debit invoices, reconciling them with corresponding payments- Assist in creating accurate payment runs and validating payment details & methods- Build working relationships with cross-functional teams, such as Procurement, Facilities & IT, and maintain overall Accounts Payable performance- Act as a point of contact to stakeholders for questions, support and issues around invoicing and payment inquiries- Assist with month end tasks, including preparation of accruals for the Finance team- Support Line Manager and Finance teams with ad-hoc duties as required

Person Specification- Fully Qualified or Part Qualified at AAT level or professional qualification/relevant work experience in a similar role- Fluent in English & Portuguese (Spanish, French, German or Dutch will be an added value)- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a member of different teams- Customer-focused attitude, able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders- Excellent analytical skills, knowledge of accounting, finance, and tax principles- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment

Professional- Experience in Accounts Payable is preferred- Knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, Teams- Oracle and/or Procure to Pay system knowledge will be an advantage
