**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team in Portugal, focusing on financial operations and accounting activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in general ledger and sub-ledger accounting, with a strong understanding of IFRS and international VAT law. In addition, they will be fluent in English and have excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the EU business functions, local Finance Directors, and local Finance and business staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and post credit and debit business transactions, taking into account local VAT regulations.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger and closing activities.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS, local commercial, and tax law.
  • Post and monitor payments and prepare payment runs.
  • Manage open items, including clarification of differences and permanent reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in general ledger and sub-ledger accounting.
  • Experience in financial audit and/or experience in Finance, Accounting, or tax-related advisory is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and good knowledge of HGB and international VAT law desirable.
  • English fluency (mandatory).
  • SAP skills (strong nice to have).
  • Experience working with multiple countries/geographies.
  • Previous experience working within a GBS environment preferred.
