**The Opportunity**

We are seeking an experienced Geography Department Head to lead our team at King's College School, Cascais. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum and will introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026. The successful candidate will shape the future of our Geography department, inspiring the next generation of geographers.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Leadership and Management: Oversee the Geography department, ensuring high-quality education through curriculum development, teaching standards, and resource allocation.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive Geography curriculum aligned with Cambridge International and IB standards, fostering critical thinking and geographical inquiry.
  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging Geography lessons to students from Years 7 to 13, promoting academic excellence across all levels.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessments that measure student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual learning needs.
  • Professional Development: Mentor and support Geography teachers, facilitating professional growth and best practices within the department.
  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and contribute to the school's academic initiatives.
  • Student Engagement: Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities related to Geography, such as clubs, competitions, and field trips.

**Requirements**

  • Proven experience as a Geography Department Head or similar leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to design and implement a comprehensive Geography curriculum.
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Experience working with Cambridge International and IB curricula.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
