**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of History to lead our History department at King's College School, Cascais. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum, including IGCSEs, and is set to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the History department, overseeing curriculum development, teaching standards, and resource allocation to ensure high-quality education.
- Design and implement a comprehensive History curriculum aligned with Cambridge International and forthcoming IB standards, fostering critical thinking and historical inquiry.
- Deliver engaging and challenging History lessons to students from Years 7 to 13, ensuring excellence in academic outcomes across all levels, including Sixth Form.
- Develop and administer assessments that accurately measure student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual learning needs and preparing students for top examination performance.
- Mentor and support History teachers, facilitating professional growth and promoting best practices within the department.
- Work closely with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and contribute to the school's academic initiatives.
- Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities related to History, such as history clubs, competitions, and field trips.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the History curriculum and teaching methods, implementing improvements as necessary to maintain the highest standards.
- A degree in History or a related field, with a strong academic track record and a recognized teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching History at GCSE and IB (or equivalent), with a history of securing top academic outcomes.
- Analytical insight into what drives excellent progress and performance in History's examination specifications.
- Experience in fast-paced, academically ambitious schools, including teaching Sixth Form.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- A passion for teaching and inspiring students through creative and engaging lessons.
- Assessment expertise, with experience developing and implementing effective assessment strategies.
- A proactive approach to personal and professional development, staying updated on advancements in History education.
- A collaborative mindset, with an ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and the wider school community.
- Cultural awareness, with an appreciation for working in a multicultural environment.
About Inspired Education Group
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. We offer a competitive salary of approximately £45,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
