Job Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the SMARTENERGY Group AG, a leading company in renewable energy investments. We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Process Safety Engineer Green H2 to lead our hydrogen safety initiatives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the design and development of our projects prioritize safety, adhering to applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You will oversee the technical process safety strategy for hydrogen and derivatives plants throughout all engineering phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety standards and guidelines for our hydrogen projects, working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage the technical process safety strategy, providing guidance on hydrogen safety aspects to project design members.
  • Perform qualitative risk assessments, preliminary sizing of fire-fighting facilities, and F&G design philosophies.
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines to ensure safe design solutions, including equipment, buildings, and infrastructure.
  • Prepare documentation for local authorities, including fire and explosion analysis and risk assessment.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience as a senior process safety engineer in oil&gas, petrochemical, or hydrogen facilities, with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Expertise in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessments, Occupational safety, Hazards, and Effects management.
  • Familiarity with regulations, international standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). Portuguese is a plus.
Estimated Salary

$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
