At Buscojobs Portugal, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team in the beautiful region of Algarve. The estimated salary for this role is around €60,000 per year.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity involves working closely with our external Data Protection Officer (DPO) and serving as the primary point of contact for all data protection matters within the company. As a Data Protection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization complies with various country-specific privacy legislations and data protection regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze country-specific privacy legislations and data protection regulations, providing recommendations as needed to support compliance requirements.
  • Lead privacy by design initiatives for our SaaS products dedicated to the hospitality industry, driving innovation and pragmatic solutions to complex challenges.
  • Conduct thorough Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), identifying potential risks and implementing mitigating measures to ensure data protection.
  • Maintain and improve cross-border data transfer legal frameworks, ensuring seamless collaboration across borders.
  • Review and negotiate data protection terms and data processing agreements with clients, suppliers, and partners.
  • Manage and resolve privacy incidents, maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and business stakeholders to identify data protection-related risks and develop targeted mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver employee training programs, promoting a culture of data protection and responsible data handling practices.
  • Respond to data subject requests, demonstrating empathy and commitment to individual rights.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in a relevant field, preferably with 3+ years of experience in a privacy role within a multinational company.
  • IAPP certification (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT).
  • Experience interpreting and implementing data protection legislation and regulations, particularly the GDPR, CCPA, and PIPL.
  • Familiarity with OneTrust or similar solutions.
  • Strong understanding of IT and security concepts, including encryption, hashing, tokenization, and more.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility and willingness to collaborate with various teams and divisions, embracing new challenges and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
