Good Friday Robotics specializes in the development of drones for surveying confined spaces and hazardous environments. Good Friday Robotics is looking for a Workshop Technician (Junior-Intermediate) to join their small team of passionate, skilled, and creative thinking individuals fueled by research and innovation. If you have a keen interest in UAV’s, robotics and creative problem solving, this place is for you. This is a full-time contract position based in our prototyping facility in Benfica, Portugal. Responsibilities: Build and assemble drone prototypes and sub-assemblies, mechanical components, wiring, connectors and precise soldering on PCB assemblies. Operate (or learn to operate) in-house fabrication equipment: CNC, laser cutter, and waterjet. Troubleshoot and test mechanical/electronic issues using a multimeter, oscilloscope and a logical step-by-step approach. Collaborate closely with engineers and designers during fast iteration on one-off prototypes. Read CAD drawings to verify fit/feasibility and coordinate with external fabricators/suppliers to get parts made correctly. Maintain a tidy, organized workspace and care for shared tools and equipment. Communicate clearly and proactively about progress or blockers (no silent errors). Qualifications: Hands-on track record of making things (professional, academic or personal). We value careful craftsmanship and practical skill above a degree. Experience with assembling, wiring, and soldering; ability to rework connectors and PCB assemblies. Electronics knowledge sufficient to diagnose shorts, polarity issues, continuity and basic faults. Comfortable reading CAD drawings; editing ability is a plus. Experience with at least one of: CNC machining, laser cutting, or waterjet cutting (others can be learned on the job). SMD (Surface-Mount Device) soldering experience is a plus. Independent and proactive communicator - asks when unsure, surfaces issues early, needs minimal micromanagement.
