**MISSION**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Lead the research teams by providing support, mentoring, technical guidance and leadership to ensure scientific and operational excellence and to move programs in a fast and agile way, while budget-controlled from laboratory to clinical studies.
- Foster a climate of creativity, as well as lead by example, by bringing forth ideas to the group.
- Actively collaborate with the business development team to participate in strategic exercises and decisions regarding partnering opportunities.
- Work collaboratively to identify and ensure quality oversight of external partners aligned with the Bial strategy.
- Lead Bial´s participation in disease area consortia as well as building and maintaining key external expert relationships and representing Bial R&D at conferences and other scientific events.
- Ensure compliance around proper experimental documentation, scientific reports, QA initiatives, safety, and training.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- PhD or MD/PhD in Neuroscience.
- Experience with Small Molecules (insights into New Modalities valued).
- Strong scientific background with a deep understanding of the aetiology and pathophysiology underlying neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders.
- Ability to work as a member of multidisciplinary, project-oriented teams, with demonstrated problem-solving skills and flexibility to succeed in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain external networks and collaborations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including technical writing and presentations), with the ability to collaborate efficiently across the organization.
