Opening in 2026, The Standard, Lisbon marks our long-anticipated arrival in one of Europe’s most happening cities. Located at Palácio Santa Clara, the hotel rises above the colourful alleyways of Alfama, Lisbon’s most picturesque neighbourhood offering front-row views of the river. Built atop the ancient College of St. Francis Xavier, which served as the Portuguese Royal Navy Hospital for over 200 years, the property is being reimagined by acclaimed architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho. His design respects the building’s heritage while looking ahead to a bold, unconventional Lisbon.

Anchored in wellness, design, food, music, and culture, The Standard, Lisbon brings our signature Anything but Standard philosophy to Portugal. The property includes 165 guestrooms, 24 residences, multiple restaurants and bars, lush gardens, a rooftop terrace, and of course a world-class Spa that promises to redefine relaxation in the city.

As we enter the pre-opening phase, we’re now looking for a **Spa Manager** who will embody our ‘Anything but Standard’ ethos of uncompromising creativity, inclusivity, and vibrant hospitality.

**Your role**

Our Spas are legendary, from the iconic Standard Spa, Miami Beach to our global collection of lifestyle destinations and now, it’s Lisbon’s turn. As the **Spa Manager** for The Standard, Lisbon, you will oversee the pre-opening and launch of our new wellness sanctuary, working closely with the General Manager, Head of Lifestyle Operations, and Lifestyle Team to ensure that the Standard Spa becomes Lisbon’s most sought-after wellness destination.

You will take the lead on all aspects of the Spa’s operation, from its initial setup to its daily running once the doors open. This includes recruiting, training, and inspiring a passionate team of therapists, attendants, and receptionists who will deliver warm, intuitive service and unforgettable guest experiences. You will develop the spa’s philosophy, treatment menus, and signature rituals, blending global wellness practices with Portuguese influences inspired by the ocean, natural ingredients, and Lisbon’s effortless rhythm.

You’ll bring a hands-on leadership approach, ensuring that the Spa delivers consistent operational excellence, while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance. Working alongside the senior leadership team, you’ll manage the financial performance of the Spa overseeing budgets, forecasts, and cost control while identifying creative opportunities to grow revenue through events, memberships, partnerships, and bespoke activations.
Collaboration will be key. You’ll partner with our Marketing and Culture team to curate innovative programs, wellness events, and retreats that fuse health, art, music, and community, bringing the spirit of The Standard to life in unexpected ways. Your daily presence within the Spa will ensure that every detail, from scent and sound to lighting and layout, aligns perfectly with our brand ethos and enhances the guest journey.

This is not a ‘Standard’** Spa Manager** position, in short, this role combines operational leadership, financial acumen, and creative vision. You’ll ensure that every aspect of our Spa reflects the vibrancy, inclusivity, and playfulness that define The Standard, delivering not just relaxation, but transformation.

**Do you have what it takes to be our Spa Manager at The Standard, Lisbon?**

A minimum of **3-5 years’ experienc**e in **Spa Management, Spa Operations**, or **Wellness**, with experience gained ideally in Lisbon or Portugal.
- Experience in spa or wellness management within a luxury or lifestyle hotel.
- Proven experience with pre-opening projects, including Spa treatment development and concept creation.
- Deep understanding of holistic wellness trends, guest experience, and service excellence.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with a track record of driving both guest satisfaction and profitability.
- Knowledge of Portuguese wellness culture, local ingredients, and treatment modalities (advantageous).
- Passion for creativity, innovation, and delivering experiences that go beyond the traditional spa model.
- Hold relevant certificates in Spa or Wellness disciplines
- Fluent in Portuguese and English; additional languages are always a plus.
- Flexible, proactive, and passionate with the energy to thrive in a vibrant, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
