We are looking for AI Software Engineer to join our company, in one of our projects, located in Lisbon.Key Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end software architecture for cloud-native, data-intensive and AI-enabled applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security on hyperscaler platforms such as AWS.
• Lead the design of microservices, APIs, and event-driven integrations that enable data products, analytics platforms, and AI workloads to consume high-quality, well-governed data.
• Partner with data engineers and AI engineers to embed Retrieval-Augmented Generation, recommender systems, and other AI capabilities into production services, ensuring robust integration patterns, latency control, and observability.
• Drive cloud-native modernization initiatives, refactoring monoliths into modular architectures and guiding teams through PoCs, co-creation activities, and incremental migration strategies.
• Establish and promote architecture standards, reusable patterns, and best practices for secure software development, API design, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Act as technical lead for distributed engineering teams, providing hands-on guidance in Java, , Python, and JavaScript frameworks while fostering quality via code reviews, testing strategies, and Agile practices.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, platform, and data governance stakeholders to ensure compliance with policies, identity and access management controls, and secure-by-design principles.
• Evaluate emerging technologies in cloud-native, data engineering, and AI (e.g., managed AI services, serverless data processing, vector search) and translate them into actionable roadmaps and platform capabilities

Requirements

• +7 years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including recent experience as a Software Architect or IT Architect delivering cloud-native solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong background in designing and implementing distributed systems using Java, , Python, and modern JavaScript frameworks, with a focus on microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and cloud-native runtimes such as, containers, Kubernetes, and managed services for data, integration, and AI.
• Solid understanding of data-intensive application design, including working with relational databases, search technologies, and integration patterns that support analytics, BI, and AI workloads.
• Familiarity with AI and data use cases such as system integration with AI services, RAG-based solutions, and recommender or personalization systems, with the ability to translate model requirements into robust software and data architectures.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams, driving Agile ways of working, and coordinating with stakeholders across multiple business and technology domains.
• University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, ideally complemented by postgraduate studies in Computer Science or similar.
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and a collaborative mindset in international, cross-functional teams.
