We’re looking for a dynamic junior Internal Communications advisor to cover an extended maternity leave. Ideally an undergraduate student looking for a one year placement in industry, or a recent graduate looking to start their career in internal communications.

Key responsibilities:

Work with the Internal Communications Lead and Internal Communications Managers to generate ideas and deliver content that is purposeful, inspiring, caring, and creates curiosity and ambition in our people.

Manage some of our regular communications activity, including our weekly In Case You Missed It wrap up email. And contribute to our flagship activities such as the fortnightly global townhall and twice-yearly Big Conversation events.

Use your creative and digital skills to keep our communications fresh and exciting, delivering purposeful, inspiring and caring content across our internal channels.

Employ a variety of mediums including video production, building graphics, maintaining our intranet and producing compelling written content.

Develop your personal skills working with colleagues across all our teams - encouraging and supporting them to ‘tell their stories’ on anything from R&D breakthroughs, major commercial successes to their experience of our Great Place to Work engagement initiatives.

Promote initiatives including our new Recognition and Volunteering programmes, our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Groups, and support our Technology Council and Digital leaders to showcase the ways we’re using new technology to solve customer challenges in partnership with them.

Work closely with our Marketing colleagues to align our internal and external communications, including our LinkedIn channel. And work with colleagues across the Spectris Group to deliver integrated communications campaigns.

Support with measuring the effectiveness of internal communications activities. Continuously improve our communications channels based on data, feedback and external inspiration.

Essential qualifications

5 GCSE at grades 4-9 (A*- C) or equivalent including English, with a minimum GCSE Maths grade 4 (C).

The equivalent of 2 A levels.

Currently studying communications or PR related degree with student placement year as part of sandwich course

Essential technical knowledge and skills

Knowledge/theory of Media and/or Communications obtained through degree (with student placement year as part of course), that would benefit working in a busy media/internal communications team.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Strong software skills, including using full Microsoft Office 365 suite.

Experience in basic web publishing – we use Unily for our intranet.

Strong ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy team environment.

Experience of using social media and online forums in a work (paid or voluntary) or study capacity.
