The Role & The Person

Lead the UKSC in delivering operational excellence to our customers and our business. Your key responsibilities and traits breakdown as follows: 

A leader

You will be leading a large function. You will be directly managing team leaders and be ultimately responsible for motivating team members and the overall function to deliver a world class standard of service.

You will be responsible for setting the standards, and delivering against them. You will build an environment where quality and service for our customers is at the heart of daily operations, ensuring there is the right governance and reporting in place to protect this. 

You will be:

Collaborative with business leaders in developing the right measures and metrics to drive the function forward

Obsessed with service for customers, and passionate in upholding and improving standards

Experienced in identifying, analysing and making decision from this data to drive these standards

Maximising efficiencies

As a large business function, efficiency is key. You will be responsible for challenging conventions, sponsoring efficiency/automation initiatives, and ensuring strong reporting is in place.

You will be:

Statically minded, with proven operational strategy experience

Experienced in resource, capacity and utilisation planning

Able to sponsor and deliver the right operational or technical initiative to give biggest impact for your function

Operational management

You will need to be risk aware, ensuring risk management procedures and frameworks are in place. You will manage unforeseen operational issues quickly and effectively. You will make sure processes and procedures are up-to date, being followed and hitting required regulatory and conduct standards.

You will:

Be a structured, logical and clear

Be able to prioritise, adapt and calmly react to emerging risks and issues

Have a good understanding of insurance services and their regulators

Person Specification:

Must haves:

Ability to juggle lots of work and changing priorities at once

Experience of managing stakeholders at all levels and be able to prove you can bring people with you

Experience in leadership of diverse teams

Fluent in English

Experience in making data-driven decisions

Be an excellent judge of character

Advantageous but not essential for the right person:

Experience in the insurance or financial services industry

Experience of managing managers

Strong change background

Experience of using process improvement techniques
