Julian's School:
Founded in 1932, we are a highly successful, non-selective 3-18 British international school with a reputation for academic excellence. We currently have just over 1,200 students from over 50 different nationalities.

The School has three sections:
Primary, Secondary, and Portuguese. There are 640 students in the Secondary Section.


St Julian's provides a 1:1 iPad programme for students in KS3 and all students bring their own laptops in KS4 and 5.

We use Google Apps for Education as a learning platform. All teaching staff work with MacBooks.

Secondary Section Teacher Job Description:

Core Purpose:

To facilitate the learning of students and promote the effective development of all individuals in our learning community.

Learning:

  • To mentor and support students in their learning
  • To develop a personalised approach to learning that enables every child to succeed and understand the diverse learning capacities of students
  • To develop necessary intervention in and out of the classroom where a child is not making expected progress
  • To plan appropriate sequences of lessons to support student learning
  • To develop appropriate ongoing assessments to enhance student learning
  • Use a variety of teaching strategic fundamental to school pedagogy in ways that stimulate learning and inspire students
  • Integrate technology to enhance learning

Learning Essentials:

Well-being

  • To work with tutors and pastoral leaders to ensure that student wellbeing is paramount
  • To liaise with the Safeguarding leads and complete the necessary referral forms if a child is deemed at risk
  • Promote intercultural understanding and respect for diversity among all students.

Professional growth

  • To identify areas of potential growth each year and commit to developing oneself in this area
  • To visit other classrooms to enable sharing of good practice
  • To invite peers into classroom to enable sharing of good practice

2nd in Mathematics Department Job Description:

Core Purpose:


To work closely with the Head of Faculty to lead the Mathematics Department to develop the effectiveness of learning and teaching.


Leadership:

  • To act as a positive role model, demonstrating high professional standards in classroom practice and in relationships with students and staff
  • To be dedicated to a culture of excellence by supporting, motivating and empowering colleagues in the department
  • To act with passion, enthusiasm and integrity and to foster an open, equitable and enjoyable climate
  • To contribute to a school culture which is committed to reflection and dialogue about learners and learning, informed by (schoolbased) research, and collectively responsible for collaborative practices
  • To work with the Head of Faculty to support the growth and development of teachers in the Maths Department. This may include coaching and line leadership of specific members of staff

Strategic Development:

  • To develop annual strategic goals and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the faculty and the school
  • To work closely with the Head of Faculty to implement and review systems for monitoring the quality of learning and teaching and programmes of study to engender continuous improvements in the quality of the curriculum and its delivery.
