Energy Market Analyst/trainee

Mercatus Energy is searching for an analyst/trainee to join our team in Portugal.

As an analyst/trainee, you will:

  • Acquire significant knowledge across multiple energy commodity markets, both traditional and renewable, including crude oil, electricity, emissions/environmental, natural gas, natural gas liquids and refined products markets while working closely with our global team
  • Work closely with senior members of our team and clients
  • Have a high level of responsibility and be empowered to make important contributions

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to continuously learn and adapt in a brisk paced environment
  • Advanced aptitude for problem solving and multitasking
  • Detail oriented, organized, diligent
  • Fluent English communication verbal, written and listening skills
  • Ability to work with a team and individually to create solutions to complex analytical challenges and communicate (in writing and verbally) with a sophisticated, global institutional client base
  • Degree in economics, finance, mathematics, probability, statistics, science or a related field or otherwise proven quantitative and analytical excellence
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python is plus but not required;
