Your role at Baxter:


As the Distribution Operations Supervisor, you will be managing the outsourced Distribution Transport and Warehouse operations for Baxter in Portugal.

This is a key role within Fulfilment division, working alongside Customer Service and Technical Service in the country and to be responsible to deliver on service levels to customers and patients within the operating budget.


As member of the Fulfilment Portuguese team, you are the country champion for the Distribution Transport and Warehousing activities of Baxter.

What are your responsibilities?

  • In close collaboration with Customer and Technical Service will ensure and play pivotal role helping to deliver on our mission to save and sustain lives by committing to the agreed Service Levels to Customers and patients we serve.
  • Be responsible for managing 3PL Transport and Warehouse partners and accountable for the correct deployment and success of distribution operations and budget.
  • Standardize processes and share benefits on technology/Systems deployment and contribute to the Digital transformation of the endtoend supply chain in Baxter Portugal.
  • Champion to deliver best possible allround Distribution Service to Baxter customers by pondering requirements/constraints of Baxter stakeholders within Supply Chain, Business and Functions, with an endtoend view and collaborative spirit.
  • Accountable to guarantee the EU Good Distribution Practices of medical products for Human use, the Medical Device Regulation and all applicable national legislation in the areas of Transport and Warehouse.
  • Strategy and supplier selection through complex Tendering process and up to contract drawing.
  • Ensure inventory control through close monitoring of cycle counts performed by 3pl supplier.

Financials:

  • Build, execute and control:
  • Total Portugal Distribution Transport and Warehouse Budget.
  • Drive actions to Deliver or exceed financial commitments
  • Ensure full, correct and ontime visibility of spent by providing Dashboard information on freight and warehouse cost drivers.
  • Innovative/creative on developing new Margin Improvement Projects (MIP) saving opportunities with a Target of 5% on a yearly basis.

Supplier Management:

  • Ensure monthly and Quarterly review meetings are held with main strategic carrier to discuss and followup on performance, spent & GDP related items
  • Management of 3PL through KPI's. Build a strong metric control dashboard to enable best in class distribution transport performance and warehouse activity service and cost.
  • Maintain an open eye on the transport and warehousing sector to get the pulse of new opportunities or challenges to come.
  • Environmental targets. Work alongside Transport supplier to meet the CO2 emission reduction target.
  • Be accountable and lead continuous improvement in service complaints received from customers and patients.
  • Act as main contact person on all related replenishment flows. Both inbound and outbound
  • Main key user for Baxter ERP (JDEdwards) on Transport and Warehouse related topics. Including Warehouse Management System (Swisslog) which is used in the outsourced Sintra 3PL warehouse.
  • Coordination of testing (UAT) with JDE / Swisslog systems for changes / enhancement to the ERP and WMS.
  • Ensure adequate Contract and Quality Agreements are in place with all suppliers and comply with Audit scheme.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by using best in class distribution concepts & continuous deployment of innovative market solutions.

We are presently seeking people who have:

  • Degree level qualification in a Technical or Business field (Engineering, Business, Logistics, Science
  • Master ́s degree preferred
  • Extensive experience (+ 5 years) in transport and Distribution with a multinational firm.
  • Experience managing large Budget in Transportation or Warehousing
  • Experience working for a 3PL's Transport and/or Warehouse
  • Experience on similar role on a Pharmaceutical
