iBET is a private, non-profit biotechnology R&D institute working at the interface between academia and industry.

We develop processes and platforms for advanced gene and cell therapies, vaccines, and clinically relevant proteins, from R&D to Analytics and Tech-Transfer to GMP.

We also explore innovative solutions to detect food fraud, water and food contaminations, and the identification of new bioactive food supplements.


We offer state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure for cellular bioengineering and biology research, including flow cytometry, cell sorting and microscopy, in addition to a Mass Spectrometry Unit and a Late-Stage R&D and Bioproduction Unit.

With our new building, iBET Biofarma, we are expanding our research infrastructure with 30 new labs, including one BSL3, which will accommodate up to 100 new researchers.


Admission Requirements:

Education:
MSc in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related fields

Essential skills and experience:

  • At least, 1 year experience with transcriptomics (RNAseq) data analysis, including differential gene
expression and pathway/gene set enrichment analysis

  • Handson experience in programming environments like Bash, R, or Python
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking, with ability to breakdown and tackle complex challenges
independently and with minor guidance

  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Previous experience with singlecell RNAseq data analysis will be highly valued
  • Handson experience with animal cell culture and omics data analysis of cancer cell models or human cell production platforms for gene therapy vectors will be highly valued
  • Experience in functional analysis of metabolomics or proteomics data, in addition to transcriptomics,
will also be valued

Work Plan:

Activities will include:

  • Data analysis and biological interpretation of singlecell and bulk RNAseq data sets
  • Understand and use computational environments required for RNAseq data analysis
  • Provide advice and guidance in transcriptomics data analysis to iBET students
  • Work closely with scientists from different Labs, backgrounds and expertise within iBET
  • Communicate resulting work in scientific presentations and manuscripts

Fellowship Duration:


The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law.

The expected starting date is 11th of September of 2023.

Selection Criteria:

Phase 1:
evaluation of CV merits, motivation, and experience regarding essential requirements in this
announcement (80%);

Applicants who do not meet the above admission requirements will not be eligible.
