Engineering Manager

Following continuous business growth and increasing volumes we are looking for an energetic and highly motivated Engineering Manager who will strengthen Automation Systems Business Line Operations organization within Central & South Europe (CSE).
In this position you will be responsible for leading and developing your engineering team (own and partners) for project deliveries ensuring timeliness, cost efficiency and meeting our customers’ expectations. You will work with our customers from various industries and will be a member of Automation Systems CSE Operations Management Team. The role is based in Ovar, Portugal.
To excel in this role, you must be a strategic leader who can develop and implement plans for building and maintaining an effective engineering organization. Therefore, you must have a solid understanding of the business environment in which you operate with the ability to predict current and future organizational needs.
Engineering Manager role and responsibilities
- Performing general superior duties for your own team including recruiting.
- Developing Portugal hub into engaged, high performing and customer-oriented team.
- Providing engineering and sales support for ongoing projects in own responsibility area.
- Supporting Project Managers in resource planning.
- Active cooperation and communication with all stakeholders (integrate to CSE).
- Responsible for HSE in own responsibility area (procedures, qualifications, trainings, awareness).
Who is the Engineering Manager we are looking for
- M.Sc. degree in automation or related engineering field.
- At least 7 years of work experience with automation systems products and projects deliveries.
- Proven knowledge and practice of engineering: way of working, efficiency, and quality assurance.
- Need to be a target-oriented leader but not afraid of hands-on work.
- Strong understanding of business environment with ability to anticipate risks and opportunities.
- Very good English (both written and oral) is mandatory; Portuguese or other European language would be an advantage.
- Strong HSE mindset (acting as role model).
- Willingness to travel for business.
