BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Professional Internship - Industrial Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key Accountabilities:

- Production and warehouse area optimizing flows efficiency within the factory
- Workplace organization (ensuring safe and ergonomic production area; define material presentation, make time & method study, define equipment placement)
- Make recommendations to improve product manufacturability / labor efficiency / product quality in accordance with product design and customer specifications. Follow up implementation processes
- Ensure equipment in accordance with ergonomic, health & safety and customer specifications
- Analyze potential risks and design error proofing preventive systems
- Knowledge in Lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S’s, VSM, MTM)
- Implementation of standard work and non-std work for operators
- Develop control documentation (operators work instructions)
- Machines & operators cycle times measurements
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety at work standards, policies and practices in accordance with their level of responsibility
- Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standards
- Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
- Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
- Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
- Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service

Education & Experience
- Degree in industrial engineering, electromechanics or mechanical engineer
- Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards
- Advanced Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles and tools Design tools (Solid Works, ProE, or AutoCad)
- Problem solving tools (5Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 8D)
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Documentation and organization skills
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Portuguese
