The Role

As Chief Technology Officer for the Sportsbook Risk & Trading Technology organization, you will collaborate closely with partners to establish priorities, create roadmaps, and own the vision for your Engineering teams to work from. You will work with technology teams across different locations and time zones to develop a strategy for your area of responsibility. You will promote a culture of openness and clear feedback, enabling your teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software while emphasizing Operational Excellence.

Working closely with other Heads within FanDuel, you will help solve cross-vertical problems by designing and developing capabilities that fulfill overlapping needs. Specifically, you will lead senior leaders focused on our Risk Management and Catalogue / Pricing Distribution functions, supporting sophisticated risk tooling and content distribution workflows. You will also collaborate on the roadmap and work with other senior Sportsbook stakeholders and technology leaders to ensure end-to-end capabilities are realized.

Responsibilities
  • Delivery: Develop strategies with other heads to reduce bottlenecks and inefficiencies, promoting collaboration. Produce and deliver a strategic, technical vision, identifying gaps in ownership and negotiating who will own them going forward. Define and deliver an area strategy/vision for our next 2 years. Engage with colleagues inside and outside technology to ensure complex and cross-functional initiatives are delivered, dependencies are managed, and continuous improvement is prioritized.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with commercial, risk, and product stakeholders to build and balance backlogs as well as roadmaps for our products. Collaborate with Tech Strategy and Principal partners within Sportsbook to ensure architecturally appropriate solutions are delivered.
  • People: Attract the best talent into the tribe. Ensure our talent is continuously developed, motivated, and engaged, ensuring high performers are challenged and provided with new opportunities, and poor performers are managed up or out. Champion every success from the Tribe. Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the Technology teams and evolve our agile/scrum delivery processes.
  • Stability and Performance: Ensure the right performance and stability of all components and systems. Liaise with partners and regulatory bodies to establish and follow an effective release process.
Requirements
  • A proven track record building and effectively delivering through teams in a collaborative manner.
  • Experience defining and executing a strategic vision, working collaboratively and in partnership with stakeholders on shared goals.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and stakeholder management to ensure the department operates effectively.
  • Experience defining and implementing software delivery best practices, agile delivery methodologies, and a proven track-record of continuously improving delivery pace while maintaining quality.
  • Experience delivering technology solutions for internal customer-facing products in a high-energy, ambiguous environment.
  • Experience supporting teams with software systems in production, including on-call support, with a relentless focus on improving stability, availability, and performance.
  • A natural leader of people and a strong team player with a collaborative style; a proven track record building and effectively delivering through teams.
  • Strong communication skills with a logical, structured, clear, credible, and mature style, capable of engaging non-technical audiences of different levels.
  • You work collaboratively and in partnership with stakeholders on shared goals, consistently seeking out and facilitating the sharing of others' ideas and perspectives and positively impacting the achievement of desired outcomes.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000-$220,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
