**Head of Development**

The **Head of Software Development **is a new role, reporting to the Head of Engineering for the Worldpanel division, taking accountability for all Software Development on the primary global customer analytics platform, MyWorldpanel.

You will be responsible for several teams totalling around 90 engineers in matrixed product organisation using a balanced mix of onshore, nearshore and offshore people.

You will own and drive the technical standards for Software Development teams including SDETs and Data Engineers and work closely with the Product Owners to process high-volume data to delight customers and reach new markets.

You will work closely with a diverse range of key company stakeholders based in the UK, mainland Europe and globally.

You will use cutting edge cloud technology and will be encouraged to stay ahead of current trends. You will have a keen interest in the latest best-practices and how to leverage new technologies to increase customer value.

- Enable teams to successfully deliver at pace whilst maintaining a healthy balance of team satisfaction and sustainability using your seniority and experience to unblock obstacles to success
- Ensure the software delivery process is transparent and predictable, delivering measurable improvements in quality, security and customer satisfaction of the MyWorldpanel analytics platform
- Provide opportunities and stretch goals to develop your team and support their long-term career aspirations. And maintain a healthy balance of cross-functional team members and success plans
- Use appropriately mapped OKRs to provide clear direction of desired outcomes and drive efficiencies like time-to-value and improving customer satisfaction
- Maintain operational dashboards so your team can monitor and log customer analytics and telemetry
- Drive best practice in shift-left to support delivering highly available, high-performance, secure solutions at pace and quality
- Productionising engineering and maintenance of high-volume of Data Science team models
- Promote strong e2e customer ownership mindset in all teams.

**Key Capabilities**:

- A previous hands-on background as a Software, Data Engineer or Technical Architect
- Agile software leadership ideally in a product-style organisation of multiple cross-functional teams, with a mix of onshore, nearshore and offshore, including high-volume Data Engineering
- Champion of quality through Solid, clean code, Test-first and Shift-left
- Champion of delivery cadence through CI/CD and DevSecOps,
- Fact-led, but uses good instincts to support making a rapid decision when necessary
- Promote a high-trust, ok-to-fail, low-ego, team-win philosophy - servant leadership
- Build trust and rapport with all stakeholders and be able to speak in their language
