About The Role

About this opportunity  Senior professional responsible for advising a client on health & safety issues relating to a large construction projects, from project initiation to completion. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Monitoring and working with the principal contractor appointed to complete the project; Attending regular meetings with the principal contractor; Providing support and assistance to the principal contractor and contractors on site; Positively engaging with our client and developing, growing and maintaining our relationship; Delivering a high quality service which ensures that services meet our client’s requirement; Managing the client’s health safety obligations on the project to deliver a high quality service; Advising and assisting the client with their duties under the CDM regulations and other construction related health and safety standards, regulations and legislations; Assisting with the coordination of health and safety aspects of design work; Cooperating with others involved with the project; Facilitating good communication between the client, designers and contractors; Liaising with the principal contractor regarding ongoing design work; Producing and presenting regular reports to our main client – this will involve prompt flash reports of major issues as well as comprehensive weekly and monthly reports detailing all aspects of health and safety management on site; Mentoring and coaching employees so that they realise their full potential; Preparing bids for services; Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or will arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance;

About You

Who we’re looking for:

The role will be permanently based on a large construction project and the successful candidate must be someone who can work independently. The role will require both high-level monitoring of a principal contractor and the candidate must be able to act on behalf of the client whilst maintaining a collaborative and positive relationship with the contractor.

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

Sound construction related health and safety management experience as an owner representative / consultant  Experience in industrial construction projects or energy / electrical substations or data centres construction projects with simular job function Experience of delivering services on a live construction site; Cohesive knowledge of construction methods Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience of construction related health and safety management; Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation relating to construction; Excellent communication skills – both oral and written; Competent ICT skills, with a high level of proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams Proficiency in English and Portuguese
