About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Backend Developer to collaborate with our team in crafting systems that integrate data and interfaces for secure, reliable, and scalable Digital Healthcare solutions. As a Backend Developer, you'll support the development of system architecture, help design solutions to meet project technical requirements under senior developer guidance, and work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and deploy scalable applications.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and deploy scalable applications.
- Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices for backend development.
- Participating in code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback to ensure code quality.
- Working closely with senior developers to implement features and troubleshoot issues in existing systems.
- Contributing to database design and optimization.
- Assisting in developing and maintaining automated tests to ensure application reliability.
- Attending daily stand-ups and contributing to sprint planning, estimations, and retrospectives in an Agile environment.
- Investigating and resolving bugs and performance issues as they arise.
- Staying updated on the latest technologies and best practices relevant to knok's technical landscape.
About You
To be considered for this role, you'll need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience working as a backend developer, preferably with Ruby on Rails expertise.
- A basic understanding of database systems, particularly PostgreSQL, and familiarity with writing and optimizing queries.
- Knowledge in RESTful APIs structure and implementation.
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
- Exposure to testing frameworks like RSpec and an understanding of automated testing practices.
- Fluency in English, spoken and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an Agile team environment.
- A very proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and improving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with an emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code.
- Basic understanding of how backend systems integrate with front-end components and external services.
Bonus points if you have experience integrating with external systems, especially healthcare systems, or have contributed to or maintained an open-source library.
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
