EU Climate and Energy Coordinator
The British Embassy in Lisbon is seeking an experienced EU Climate and Energy Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in climate change, energy policy, and international relations. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading on delivering HMG's clean energy agenda in Portugal and Cabo Verde, including providing reporting and analysis for UK customers on Portuguese policies.
  • Communicating UK policies to Portuguese audiences and identifying/delivering opportunities to further UK interests, working closely with the UK's Department for Business and Trade.
  • Managing a Policy and Communications Assistant and bidding for programme funding to support delivery of specific UK policy outcomes.

Responsibilities
As an EU Climate and Energy Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
  1. Developing and implementing policies to address climate change and promote clean energy in Portugal and Cabo Verde.
  2. Providing expert advice to senior officials on climate change, energy policy, and international relations.
  3. Liaising with local stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, and civil society organizations, to promote UK interests and deliver policy objectives.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Portuguese (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • Professional experience in at least two of the following areas: climate, energy, development, education.
  • Experience of working independently and at pace, with personal resilience and flexibility.
