Groups and Events Manager

Conrad Algarve is seeking a highly skilled Groups and Events Manager to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for overseeing the Sales Coordinators and the Groups Coordinator, working closely with the Hotel to achieve pre-established goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Sales Coordinators to deliver our standard services to customers and achieve financial goals.
- Visit customers with the Sales Manager to guarantee the success of large groups and events.
- Get involved in negotiations for groups and events to maximize results.
- Coordinate the "function meeting" with vital information about upcoming groups and events.
- Be responsible for the weekly communication meeting with coordinators.
- Know and promote hotel facilities and have knowledge of competitors' strengths and weaknesses.
- Organize hotel visits and attend to unexpected requests.
- Be the contact between the client and hotel staff, when necessary.
- Work in total cooperation with Sales Managers and Revenue Management to ensure the entire sales process is completed and up-to-date.
- Update daily sales activities on the hotel's systems, ensuring information is correct and consistent in the Groups Report.
- Review rates, groups, deadlines, and waiting lists.
- Review commission reports for groups, events, and Food and Beverage.
- Participate in special activities, such as secretaries' cocktails, welcome dinner for groups, etc.
- Ensure all requests are answered within 24 hours.
- Keep yourself informed about clients and engage the relationship with them.
- Maintain a positive work environment and good communication in the department and with other departments in the hotel to ensure compliance with Brand Standards and customer/guest satisfaction.
- Comply with stipulated times and adapt to changes according to the hotel's operations needs.
- Know and promote hotel activities and events.
Requirements:
- Complete Graduate Degree or MBA in Management, Hospitality, or Marketing.
- Fluent in English and a second language desirable.
- Previous sales and events/banquets experience, preferably in a hotel, and positions of leadership and supervision of teams.
- Critical analysis skills to strategically evaluate sales opportunities.
- Ability to analyze and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to manage stress situations while promoting a constructive and positive attitude.
- Knowledge of Product and Marketing, such as politics, operation, and structure of hotels, supervision, and organization of team members.
- The ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
- Strong sense of organization and planning.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
