About the Role

Hapag-Lloyd Ag is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive to lead our commercial efforts in Portugal.

This senior-level role is integral to driving the company's ambitious growth objectives and expanding our market presence.

The successful candidate will oversee the sales strategy, lead the sales team, and manage key client relationships to maximize revenue and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive sales strategies that align with Hapag-Lloyd's global and regional goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Drive significant growth by identifying opportunities in key trade lanes, including the USA, Canada, Latin America, Africa, Mexico, Middle East, and India.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major clients, ensuring exceptional service and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, monitor competitor activity, and adjust strategies to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Oversee sales planning activities and ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting of sales performance.
  • Work closely with other departments such as Trade Management, Customer Service, and Operations to align on business priorities and client solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of senior-level sales leadership experience within the shipping, logistics, or supply chain industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading sales teams and achieving substantial revenue growth.
  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related fields (MBA preferred).
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English; additional language skills are beneficial.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Expertise with CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
